Today I am carrying out a tree stump grinding in Colchester, Essex. It’s only a small job with a couple of smallish stumps, however, the stumps were in the way and the customer wanted to replant something smaller in the garden. Possibly something like a flowering cherry tree was mentioned. The tree stumps were fully removed, so it makes it relatively easy for the customer to replant. However, if space permits, I usually recommend that trees are replanted in a fresh spot rather than the same place. Obviously, in this particular garden, as it’s a small garden, it’s not possible to do this.
One of the stumps was buried in gravel, so the gravel was removed before I removed the tree stumps. Stones and glass windows don’t go very well together, although I do put up debris shields as you can see in the photograph, to stop stones and other debris flying too far. Once the tree stumps are ground out, the soil and the chippings are normally bought back into the ground. Once the area has settled down, the gravel can be put back on the gravelled area.
Narrow Gateways
You can see in the picture that the gateway is relatively narrow. However, the Predator stump grinder narrows down to 26 inches (66 cm). So despite the gateway looking quite tight, there was an inch or so to spare each side of the gate posts.
