Recently, I had a fairly urgent job to remove around 65 tree stumps in Goldhanger, Maldon, Essex. Most of the tree stumps were conifer tree stumps. However, there were a few ash tree stumps amongst the conifer tree stumps. Fortunately, the tree stumps were not too large so they came out fairly easily.
There was also an excavator on site, which was able to keep the area clear for me to keep grinding. Potentially, the excavator could have removed the tree stumps as it was a very large machine. However, the tree stump’s were next to a patio area, so there was the risk of undermining the patio, which could have been costly.
This is one of the many advantages of riding a tree stump rather than digging a tree stump out. Tree roots can sometimes run under buildings, foundations and patios which can cause the area to move. If very roots underneath a patio or something similar, the tree stump grinder will not reach or touch these tree roots. Whereas with a digger or excavator, potentially the excavator will take the whole root ball and all the surrounding roots. This in turn, can damage and undermine patio areas and similar situations, etc.
Narrow Tree Stump Grinder
The site that I visited at Goldhanger, near Maldon, is somewhere work quite often as they are regularly carrying out new projects. The grinder that I use is a small radio remote-tracked grinder, that narrows down to 66 cm, which enables the machine to go through a standard gateway. Despite the size of the machine and its ability to enter into tight spaces, it can cope with any size tree stump.
